About UsAbout Us

We are Gold Star Parents, Patti & Andrew Nowaczyk. About Us: On April 15, 2012, our son, U.S Army SSG David Nowaczyk was killed serving his country. David was responsible for saving many lives during his three tours in Afghanistan. David served his country proudly and he made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving behind a wife, a young daughter and step-son.

In conjunction with the Town of Dyer, Indiana it is our goal to raise funds to erect a Gold Star Family Memorial and a Fallen Hero Memorial. It is with help and contributions of people and organizations like you that will assist in making this dream become a realty. The donations and monies raised will be put into the SSG David Nowaczyk Fund, a 501 (c) (3) corporation (EIN 46-2501025).

The Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and scientific purposes, including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as an exempt organization under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

SSG David Nowaczyk Memorial Fund, Inc.’s mission is to build and maintain a Gold Star Family Memorial and a Fallen Hero Memorial. In addition, the organization will assist veterans with their needs and the needs of their families and the families of fallen soldiers. We do not anticipate providing veteran assistance until the Gold Star Family Memorial and a Fallen Hero Memorial is complete.

  1. My heart goes out to David’s entire family. I am the wife of a U.S. Marine Force Recon Sniper who served in this war. I married him in 2012, 8 yrs after his honorable discharged in 2004. My husband was shot, stabbed and blown up during his 5 1/2 years in service. He suffers from a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and severe PTSD. He battles daily with horrifying flashbacks, severe depression, trying to identify with anything that “matters” in his present life, and sometimes… he even battles with the will to live. He had and has lost so many Marine brothers… He battles with why he was spared… and not them. Again my heart goes out to David’s entire family… and his U.S. Army Brother’s and Sister’s that served by David’s side in this war, and lost a dear and loved Brother. For the pain of David’s loss, surly goes way deeper than the surface. I pray that our country can finally find the love and assistance to truly help all of our veteran’s families and veterans, of both the fallen and standing, that served this great nation. It has been 2 years this month, that we have been going back and forth with the VA, just to attain 100% disability for my husband. He can no longer keep a job, he has explosive anger issues, and is now passing out daily due to the medical issues he faces. And we are still fighting just to get him into a weekly counciling session. More must be done for our veterans that have served to keep us safe. I applaud your efforts to eventually provide assistance to veterans. God bless your efforts and I would like to thank you for David’s service to our country and his ultimate sacrifice to serve this great nation.
